French Consul General Named Co-Chairman of the World Chamber of Commerce

(Atlanta, GA.) April 22, 2014 - The World Chamber of Commerce (WCC) last week named French Consul General Denis Barbet co-chairman of its Board of Directors. Barbet will serve a two-year term.
 
With this nomination, Barbet joins fellow co-chairs U.S. Ambassador Charles Shapiro and Solange Warner, WCC Founder.
 
"It is such an honor to welcome Consul General of France, Denis Barbet, as a Co-Chairman for the World Chamber of Commerce, replacing the previous Consul General of the United Kingdom, Annabelle Malins for the WCC role. Consul General Barbet is a proven global leader with an excellent vision and skills to bring different cultures together. His experience will benefit the World Chamber of Commerce and the local community as well," said Solange Warner, World Chamber of Commerce Founder and Co-Chairman.
 
Barbet took up his appointment as Consul General of France in Atlanta in August 2012, serving Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. In this capacity, one of his many endeavours is to co-present, along with the Georgia Institute of Technology, an annual series of multidisciplinary events known as France-Atlanta, designed to foster French-American cooperation centered on innovation in the fields of science, business, culture, and humanitarian work.
 
"I am honored by this nomination, and I look forward to working with the World Chamber of Commerce and the other members of the Board to help fulfil its mission of promoting global commerce, cultural and humanitarian exchange," stated Barbet.
 
Specialist in Middle Eastern affairs, Denis Barbet has served in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1986 and has held diplomatic posts in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Prior to his arrival in the U.S. Southeast, he served as consul general of France in Naples, Italy, and director of the Institut Fran├žais de Napoli from 2009-2012. He received a bachelor's degree in law and a master degree in political science from Paris I University as well as a diploma in Literary Arabic from Paris III.
 
The World Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization that seeks to promote international trade and foster cultural and humanitarian exchange to develop economic opportunity worldwide. Founded in 2008, the World Chamber of Commerce organizes and supports initiatives and events promoting global trade, cultural/educational, and humanitarian goals.
